Sour Cream Cookie Recipe

When it comes to Valentines Day and you want to show someone you love them why not show them through a sugar cookie. These sour cream cookies are not only delicious but cute too!

Preheat oven to 425º

1 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup margarine or butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
2 2/3 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup dairy sour cream
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Mix sugar, shortening, margarine or butter, vanilla and egg. Stir in remaining ingredients.
Divide dough into 3 equal parts and roll until 1/4 inch thick.
Cut with 2-inch cookie cutter.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes or until no indentation remains when touched.
Makes 4 to 5 dozen cookies.
Cream Cheese Frosting
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 cups powdered sugar
Beat cream cheese, milk and vanilla in 2 1/2 quart bowl on low speed until smooth. Gradually beat in powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, until smooth and of spreading consistency.  Enjoy!
